RIPIENO – WORKSHOP FOR OLDER MUSIC
Wishing to rediscover the works of unjustly forgotten composers, Zelter established in 1807 a ten-member ripieno school, which met regularly and played pieces from his music collection. Taking up this tradition, in March 2008 Sing-Akademie and Lautten Compagney started to organise a workshop for old music four times a year, where pieces from the archive that have not been performed for more than 200 years are rediscovered and played. In moderated rehearsals, the Lautten Compagney plays at sight and goes on a journey of discovery into Berlin’s music history of the 18th history. Observe the experts, conducted by Wolfgang Katschner, at work, and judge for yourself which of the newly discovered music pieces you would like to hear again in future concerts.
You are a musician and would like to play with “Il Ripieno” and introduce yourself?
You are a musicologist and would like to participate in researching the archive?
